Do I need Liberty if I already have an air card or USB modem?
Liberty could eliminate the need for a costly air card/USB modem. Why pay for an additional data plan for an air card when you are already paying for one with your BlackBerry smartphone. Liberty uses your BlackBerry data connection to get out to the internet from your computer.
How much will Liberty Lite for BIS cost me?

Can I make Skype calls from my computer through the BlackBerry?

What about SMS and BlackBerry Messenger from the computer?
SMS/Texting from the PC is available in Liberty v2.1 Stay tuned, BBM is coming soon!
Is this like tethering my BlackBerry?
Liberty is unlike tethering because you wont have to choose between using your BlackBerry as a phone or using it for data, you can do both. You will be alerted of incoming calls and answering them will not disable your active data connection. With respect to data charges, data appears to your carrier as normal BlackBerry data. To this date our customers have not reported any additional charges to their data plans provided they stay under their monthly cap.(this is an observation, not a guarantee) For those of you that have unlimited BlackBerry data, enjoy!
Does Liberty work with BlackBerry Unite?
Yes.
Does it matter if I am with a CDMA carrier or a GPRS carrier?
Liberty works regardless of which carrier you have a BlackBerry plan with with the exception of Verizon and Sprint BIS users (in certain geographies). However, if you have a GPRS BlackBerry smartphone, you must complete an additional step to set up your APN connection under Options>Advanced>TCP on your smartphone. Refer to page 35 of the Liberty User Guide located on this page for more information.
